Castiglione del Lago - July 22

Jill: For our last day we decided to drive out to the lake we can spot from the hilltops on our way to town, Lake Trasimeno. It was about 30 min to the town of Castiglione del Lago, which overlooks the lake and where we believe Jacapo lives. It's much bigger than our town, but very charming as well, especially in the central old town. There is an outdoor amphitheater set in what looked to be the original exterior wall of the town fortress. Looked like a lot of fun! We had a snack, Davis bought a big fake gun and we headed back to Citta Della Pieve.

Our intent was to stroll through town and see the handful of historical and artistic sights Citta Della Pieve has to offer. As it turned out the kids were starving so we picked a spot for lunch first. Unfortunately by the time we were done the sights had closed for the afternoon. We did catch a glimpse of the cathedral in town but missed the others.

The kids were ready to go to the house for rest and swimming. We stayed in for dinner and packed up our stuff and did some grasshopper hunting.

All in all we felt Umbria had some of the most beautiful scenery we have ever seen. We loved our days at Assisi, Montepulciano (had no idea New Moon was filmed there!!), seeing Sebastian's farm, dodging bees by the pool and wandering through the streets of Citta Della Pieve. The house and grounds were lovely, as was Jacapo.

On to Positano first thing in the morning and we are excited to be back at the beach!
