Back to the Beach - July 23

Jill: We said our goodbyes to Jacopo, who couldn't have been more sweet, and drove out to the A1 for Naples.

Jacapo!

Good-bye Citta Della Pieve!

The drive took about four hours, a straight shot along the highway. The weather was rainy, but we were glad it was on a travel day. We hadn't eaten breakfast before we left and stopped just before Naples for candy bars and Gatorade. The plan was to rendez-vous with a hired driver at the car rental return counter and complete the rest of the trip to Positano. We waited about an hour for the driver and then began the 90 minute drive. We were all fairly starving and the kids were troopers, sharing what remnants of chocolate I still had and one blueberry yogurt, with no spoon. And not one complaint!

Waiting for our driver in Naples

The road to Positano is unlike any I've been on before. Even though I was afraid to look the views could not be ignored. It was a bit unnerving with the rainy weather but we made it just the same.

And once we saw the apartment and he amazing views of Positano we felt it was worth every minute to get here. This will be a wonderful place to end our journey. We got settled, sat on the balcony for dinner then took the 260 steps down (straight down!) to the beach. The town is zo cute and we can't wait to get back out there tomorrow!

The view from our balcony - wow!

We made it!

The dining area and kitchen, there was a fruit basket, snacks, and bottle of wine to greet us, heaven!

The walls are so thick there are two WiFis!

Davis first to take a plunge, too chilly for the rest of us

Narrow alleys and lots of shops

And restaurants

We also have a special guest joining us for a few days tomorrow afternoon and we are all excited to see a familiar face! Hooray!!!

  1. Have you done a lot of shopping? What are the prices like? Do they expect you to barter for prices? Have you found lots of treasures? Have you collected lots of shells and rocks from all your beaches?
